TOKYO FASHION WEEK STREET STYLE

What comes to your mind when you come across the word 'Japan' ? Let me guess, spirituality, refinement, peacefulness, tradition, beauty, mystery ? I agree. But one thing that is proper to Japan in my opinion is its culture based on contradictions and, I think this is what makes Japan such an fascinating country. Personally, I've grown up listening to what we call J-music and reading manga. Now, my tastes in music might have changed a bit but Japanese Pop Culture always had some kind of influence on me. Come on, don't tell me there wasn't a time you wanted to look like your favorite character from whatever manga/anime it was. I remember when I first got into fashion, I was so obsessed with j-fashion. Do you know the fashion magazine called Popteen ? I used to buy it from the only japanese library in Paris I knew back then. It was full of girly looks that would fit cute teenagers like the ones in all those high school life mangas you might have read. Lots of laces, overly cute accessories, etc. The thing is that I always believed Japan was far ahead from the Occident in matter of fashion. Whereas it could get very eccentric and flashy though original, it always kept a bit of tradition and in a well balanced minimalism. Japanese designers such as Rei Kawakubo, Yohji Yamamoto, Tumori Chisato, Kenzo Takada, Junya Watanabe, Issey Miyake, etc. prove it to us season after season through their admirable work. Here are some street style look from this season's Tokyo Fashion Week that caught my eyes. Tell me what you think of it, okay ?
